One of the best compliments to receive is one on your scent. While external beauty such as skincare, makeup, or your attire tend to receive the most compliments, one of my personal favorites is a complement to my scent. For others to notice your scent, it needs to last most of your day. In today’s blog, we will discuss how to keep your skin moisturized and smelling fresh all day with a scent layering method!
Before we start, you do not need to use the same products or scents as me for this method to be effective. Of course, a higher quality perfume is going to last longer on your skin, but this method has worked for me with my Target-bought perfumes. Also, I have oily skin and a Mediterranean heritage, which is why I personally use an oil to moisturize my body over a lotion. I am not suggesting anyone use oil instead of lotion or vice versa. Use what works for your budget and skin, because you know your body better than anyone else. Now let’s get into this scent layering method to stay sniffable all day long.
Here’s the scent layering method, step by step:
First things first, wash yourself! (pro tip: use a body wash and shampoo with the same or a complimenting scent of the perfume you wear.) Take your shower and thoroughly dry off.
Once dry, put the smallest amount of (preferably oil for a longer-lasting scent) perfume on your ankles, wrists, and neck. Then go in with your body oil or lotion and moisturize your skin. My personal choice is organic coconut oil mixed with Riddle’s Original Body Spray Lotion. The Riddle Original Lotion is a pheromone-based scent that really pairs well with any true scent.
After applying your lotion or oil, dry off and finish with one final application of your perfume. The layering of scents and moisturizer allows your skin to soak in the scent better, leaving you oh-so sniffable for longer.
This method also allows you to layer scents and create a signature scent for yourself. I personally love a masculine scent with light notes. If you like similar scents, I recommend using Santal as a base scent, and something lighter like Vanilla or Sandalwood as your top scent. My signature scent is Riddle’s Original mixed with Riddle’s Voyer, but sometimes I replace the Original Scent with a Santal (For this purpose, the brand does not matter) for a richer smell. With trials and time, you are sure to find your perfect scent and smell great all day.
